Biosketch

Katie M. Vance, Ph.D., was named OPPTB's associate branch chief in May 2024; she joined the branch as a program officer in 2022. Her primary interests include drug discovery, data science, and clinical and translational research. Prior to joining NICHD, she served as a health scientist administrator in the Office of Data Sharing at NIH’s National Cancer Institute (NCI), where she supported NCI’s Childhood Cancer Data Initiative and implementation of data management and sharing policies.

Before joining NIH, Dr. Vance was the director of clinical research at a large academic medical center in Louisiana, where she also served on several academic committees and boards, including the Institutional Review Board. She has published more than 20 peer-reviewed articles on topics ranging from neuropharmacology to COVID-19.

Dr. Vance graduated from Emory University in 2012 with a doctorate in molecular and systems pharmacology, where she studied NMDA receptor drug discovery and structure-function.
