Biosketch
Maranke I. Koster, Ph.D., joined NICHD as chief of DBCAB in December 2024. Her research has focused on investigating mechanisms that control typical development of ectodermal tissues as well as pathological mechanisms that lead to ectodermal dysplasias.
Prior to joining NICHD, Dr. Koster held faculty positions at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. She has published numerous manuscripts in peer-reviewed scientific journals and authored several book chapters. She also served on the scientific advisory council of the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias.
Dr. Koster completed her master’s degree at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and her doctorate degree in developmental biology from Baylor College of Medicine.
