Purpose

The NIH Climate Change and Health Seminar Series presents webinars highlighting the work of NIH institutes and centers in the field of climate change. At the same time, the seminars promote transdisciplinary discussion and collaboration within the context of this extreme threat to health.

In this webinar, Craig Newgard, M.D., M.P.H. external link, professor of emergency medicine at Oregon Health & Science University, focuses on emergency care and trauma systems in the context of climate change, including vulnerable aspects of these systems as highlighted by the pandemic. The webinar will also detail current NIH-supported research on emergency department preparedness for children, to highlight ways to improve the readiness of emergency care systems for day-to-day crises, climate effects, disasters, pandemics, and more.

Individuals who need reasonable accommodations to participate in this activity should contact Kerri Voelker at kerri.voelker@nih.gov at least 5 days in advance.
