NICHD Recruits Associate Director for Extramural Research

Key leadership position will involve the management of scientific, policy, and administrative matters for the Institute’s extramural programs

The NICHD is conducting a national search for an Associate Director for Extramural Research. This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity for an extremely capable individual to develop and implement an overall vision for the Institute’s extramural research activities, which include more than 3,100 projects and involve 130 staff members.

In this newly created position, the Associate Director for Extramural Research will oversee the activities of the Institute’s extramural research programs and manage scientific activities in maternal and child health, family health and well-being, and medical rehabilitation. In addition, this person, who will report to the NICHD Director, serves as the Director’s principal advisor on extramural scientific and policy issues as well as the Executive Secretary of the National Advisory Child Health and Human Development Council.
