Researchers may now add data from NICHD-funded studies directly to the NICHD Data and Specimen Hub (DASH).
Launched in August 2015, NICHD DASH is a centralized online resource that makes de-identified data available to researchers for secondary analyses, in accordance with the NIH Data Sharing Policy and the NIH Genomic Data Sharing Policy. The early version of the website allowed users to search for and request data from studies stored in the system; the latest update allows researchers to submit new data to share.
“Sharing data is critical in order for us to derive the greatest benefit from our investments—and to have the greatest impact on public health,” said NICHD Acting Director Catherine Spong, M.D. “We expect that this resource will become even more valuable in the months and years ahead, as the resource grows and is utilized.”
Researchers who are interested in submitting data to DASH or requesting data on the website must register for a free account. NICHD will review each data request to confirm that the proposed use is scientifically and ethically appropriate and is permitted by the institutions that submitted the data.
