Paul Williams

Paul Williams is the director of the Office of Communications, where he oversees activities related to content development, media and public relations, Freedom of Information Act requests, and public health campaigns.

Prior to joining NICHD in 2014, Mr. Williams worked at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), beginning in 2003 as a technical writer in its Division of Extramural Activities. He later became section chief in the NIAID Office of Communications and Government Relations, where he led efforts to promote the institute’s research programs and accomplishments to the public, media, and Congress.

Mr. Williams began his career as a technology writer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He also held editorial positions at several dotcom startups and marketing communications firms.

Mr. Williams received his journalism degree from the University of Maryland in 1994. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, snowboarding, and playing indoor and beach volleyball.
