Biosketch
Jolanta Topczewska, Ph.D., became a scientific review officer for SRB in May 2021. She manages the Developmental Biology (CHHD-C) study section and conducts many initial Special Emphasis Panels peer reviews.
Prior to joining NICHD, Dr. Topczewska worked as research faculty at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago with an academic appointment at the Department of Pediatrics, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She studied several disciplines including the role of transcription factors in mesoderm segmentation, neural cell fate analysis using live imaging, and the role of Nodal signaling in aggressive human melanomas, craniofacial biology, and skin regeneration using zebrafish, mice, and minipig models. She received research support funding from NIH, the state of Illinois, and philanthropic sources.
Dr. Topczewska received her Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, and her postdoctoral training in developmental biology under Dr. Brigit Hogan’s mentorship at Vanderbilt Medical Center and Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Nashville.
