Biosketch

Guanghu (Jeff) Wang, Ph.D., M.B.A., joined OEP as a policy officer in 2024. He adjudicates changes in application assignment, evaluates and produces referral guidelines, provides information regarding the grant application process for applicants and NIH extramural staff, and identifies emerging topics and initiatives requiring policy expertise. 

Before joining NICHD, Dr. Wang served as a program officer at the NIH Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP) in the Office of the Director. He managed a portfolio of research-resources grants and led and organized an NIH-wide workshop and several working groups on the ORIP strategic plan. He also has participated in several other NIH-wide efforts, such as the Common Fund’s Transformative High Resolution Cryo-Electron Microscopy Program Centers, National Service Network for Cryo-Electron Tomography, and Human BioMolecular Atlas Program; and the collaboration among NIH’s Office of AIDS Research, Office of Research Facilities, and ORIP to administer an AIDS-related infrastructure program. 

Dr. Wang was an NIH-funded independent investigator before joining NIH. His research focused on neural development, neurological diseases, and technology development. He has taught graduate classes in biochemistry and neuroanatomy. 

Dr. Wang received a B.A. and a Ph.D. from Dalian University of Technology in China, and an M.B.A. from Augusta University (formerly Augusta State University) in Augusta, Georgia.
