Purpose
The NIH Child Abuse and Neglect Working Group (NIH CANWG) coordinates and reports on NIH efforts, accomplishments, and future plans for research on child abuse and neglect. This meeting is designed to outline NIH research efforts in the field of child maltreatment and highlight the goals of the inaugural Capstone Child Maltreatment Research Center at Penn State University. The meeting will include investigators from NIH, as well as federal interagency partners.
Jennie Noll, Ph.D. , is the keynote speaker and will introduce the new NICHD-funded Capstone Child Maltreatment Research Center at Penn State University, called the Translational Center for Child Maltreatment Studies (TCCMS). The center will conduct high-quality, high-impact science, as well as communicate its goals and findings with community providers and others. The TCCMS aims to be a national resource for conducting and rapidly sharing new research that can change health and development trajectories for child maltreatment survivors, mobilize investment in child maltreatment prevention and treatment, accelerate science to practice, and spark dynamic system-wide solutions.
