Menkes Disease: NICHD Research Information

The NICHD is a leader in the efforts to understand, detect, and treat Menkes disease and related conditions. Researchers are working to identify the genetic causes of the disease, understand how the responsible genes participate in neurologic processes, dissect disease mechanisms, and use all this knowledge to improve outcomes through treatments including gene therapy.
