The NIH Pain Consortium, of which the NICHD is a member, was established to enhance pain research and promote collaboration among researchers across the many NIH Institutes and Centers that have programs and activities addressing pain.

The 2015 symposium, “Looking Back and to the Future,” will return to research topics presented at the first NIH Pain Consortium symposium held in 2006. It will highlight advances in pain research on neuro-glial mechanisms, genetics & epigenetics, brain imaging discoveries, novel therapy development, and cognitive and emotional influences. The event will also include a junior investigator poster session and presentation of the Mitchell Max award.
