Neuroscience: NICHD Research Information

Neuroscience touches almost every aspect of research supported and conducted by the NICHD.

Through its Division of Extramural Research, the NICHD supports neuroscience-related research on child development and rehabilitation, reproduction and fertility, HIV/AIDS, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and pregnancy and fetal health.

In addition to NICHD-sponsored initiatives and investigator-initiated projects, the NICHD also supports neuroscience research through the NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research.

The NICHD’s Division of Intramural Research also conducts a wide range of research on neuroscience-related topics, including (but not limited to) genetic disorders, neural imaging, and neuronal development.
