What are the treatments for diabetes?

There are two main types of treatment for diabetes:

The National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse at http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov and the National Diabetes Education Program at http://ndep.nih.gov provide detailed patient information about type 1 and type 2 diabetes, including specific information about treatments.

The NICHD offers some general treatment information for women with gestational diabetes at http://www.nichd.nih.gov/publications/pages/pubs_details.aspx?from=&pubs_id=297. This information should not replace the advice and care from a health care provider.
