Amenorrhea: NICHD Research Information

NICHD research on amenorrhea includes studies of the mechanics and natural processes that control the menstrual cycle as well as evaluating conditions that may cause or contribute to amenorrhea, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), Fragile X-associated primary ovarian insufficiency (FXPOI), and Turner syndrome

This research includes studies on genetics and epigenetics, hormones, and environmental factors that may play a role in amenorrhea.

In addition, the NICHD’s fertility preservation research is making important strides in helping couples who are facing infertility.
