Zhaoxia Ren, M.D., Ph.D., joined the OPPT Branch as a medical officer in May 2008. She is the program scientist for the Obstetric Pharmacology Research Units (OPRU) Network and the program officer for the Branch’s translational research program. She is also the NICHD’s representative to the NIH Pharmacogenomics Research Network (PGRN) and Blueprint Neurotherapeutics Network (BPN). Dr. Ren received her M.D. in China and Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the United States. Prior to joining NICHD, Dr. Ren was a program director at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) and managed one of the largest national cooperative genetic studies on alcohol abuse and alcoholism. She also held multiple positions at NIAAA and established NIAAA’s international collaborative research programs in China and Korea.
