Purpose
As a part of NICHD Health Disparities Seminar Series, the Institute’s DSP will host a workshop to address prospective father’s role in pregnancy outcomes. This workshop brings together researchers, health care providers, and members of professional organizations to identify gaps in and barriers to research on this subject. The role of the father in child development has been well documented. However, much less attention has been paid to the role of fathers during pregnancy and child birth. This workshop will take a transdisciplinary approach in discussing the role of expectant fathers in pregnancy outcomes, and how paternal involvement can impact differences in pregnancy outcomes.
Invited speakers include:
- Dr. Michael Lu (Health Resources and Services Administration)
- Dr. Jermane Bond (Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, Health Policy Institute)
- Dr. Sally Darney (Environmental Protection Agency)
- Latanya Mapp Frett (Planned Parenthood Federation of America)
- Dr. Tonse Raju (NICHD Pregnancy and Perinatology Branch)
- Dr. Stuart Moss (NICHD Reproductive Sciences Branch)
